Tasches, Trims & Tears at our New Store Launch

How many hot wings does it take to make a grown man cry? We celebrated opening our new flagship store at 39 Queen Street, Edinburgh on Friday with a night of Tasches, Trims and Tears. Blowing the socks off brave volunteers, we asked folk to place their bets on who could handle the heat to raise money for men's health charity, Movember, raising over £300 on the night. Here's the lowdown on what went on...

First up, the lovely guys and gals at Edinburgh WINGS brought their infamous Hot Wing Challenge to The Brotique along with their their brand new sauces. With their specially created suicide sauce, we challenged eight volunteers to go all MAN VS. FOOD and race against the clock to be the first with an empty plate and a bucket full of meatless chicken. The brave bro's included Beardcraft’s Lewis Simister, Filmmaker Liam Bradley, Blogger Paul Keenan and a few others who had pints of milk at the ready to  win The Brotique Trophy and a Man Hamper worth over £150. The strongest stomach of the night went our good friend Paul Fletcher from local clothing company Common People who beat the rest to an empty plate and his very own Trophy. WELL IN FLETCH!

We had some really incredible facial hair attend the party so it would have been rude to not invite our pals at Boombarbers to tidy up the tashes for the homestretch of Movember 2014. Taking full advantage of the trims, some attendees went for some dramatic cuts and styles including greaser quiffs and full on Bronson skinheads giving a donation to Movember with every snip.

Otherwise known as 'that streamy shop that used to be a newsagents',  we invited customers, press and locals to come and celebrate our new (larger) home. Of course we had a lot of love for everyone who took time to pop in on, but it was clear that there were two furry ladies who stole the night and our hearts...

We had an incredible night celebrating and fundraising for a very important cause, there is so much more to come from our new store so don't forget to keep popping in to see what new products and indipendant brands we can bring to you next visit. Did you attend our #Movember party? Don't forget to give us a tweet over at @the_brotique!
