Affiliate disclosure
Some links on this site earn us money. Here is exactly how that works, in plain words.

The short version
Some of the links on The Brotique are affiliate links. If you buy something after clicking one, the retailer may pay us a small commission. It costs you nothing extra and never changes the price you pay.
What it does not change
- Commission does not decide what we recommend. Our picks are chosen by people, using testing and experience.
- It does not change a ranking, a score or a verdict.
- If we cannot stand behind a product, we do not link to it, whether or not it pays commission.
- Some links earn nothing at all. We include them anyway when the product is the right call.
How we flag it
Where a piece contains affiliate links, we say so near the top, before the first link, and we mark affiliate links where they appear. Links that earn us money are tagged as sponsored, as search engines ask us to.
If a product was gifted, loaned or sent to us for review, we say that too.
The rules we follow
We aim to follow the guidance of the UK Advertising Standards Authority and Competition and Markets Authority, and the US Federal Trade Commission, which all ask for disclosure that is clear, prominent and close to the link.
