What to get the man who has everything

Buying for someone who needs nothing? The trick is small, well-made things they would never buy themselves.

The hardest man to buy for is the one who wants nothing. The mistake is to go bigger. The trick is to go better: small, well-made things he would use every day but would never quite get around to buying himself.

A proper safety razor instead of plastic disposables. A boar bristle brush that will outlast the decade. A beard oil from a real maker, with a scent chosen to suit him rather than picked off a supermarket shelf. None of these cost a fortune, and all of them quietly improve a daily routine.

If you want it to feel like an occasion, build a small set rather than buying one big thing: a wash, an oil and a brush together tell a nicer story than a single bottle. Add a handwritten note and you are done.

The man who has everything rarely has the good version of the boring essentials. That is your opening.
