Does shaving make your beard grow back thicker?
The oldest myth in grooming. The honest answer, and what actually affects how a beard fills in.

No. It is the most repeated myth in grooming, and it simply is not true. Shaving cuts the hair at the surface and has no effect on the follicle below the skin, where thickness and growth are actually decided.
What fools people is the regrowth. A shaved hair grows back with a blunt, cut end rather than the soft taper it had naturally, so it feels coarser and looks darker for a while. That is texture, not thickness, and it settles as the hair grows out.
What does affect how a beard fills in is mostly genetics and age, helped along by looking after yourself: staying hydrated, eating well, sleeping, and keeping the skin healthy so every follicle has its best chance. So put the razor down and give it time. That is the real secret.
