How often should I wash my beard?

Not every day. Here's the honest answer on washing a beard, and what to use.

Short answer: two or three times a week for most men. Every day is too much, and it is one of the most common mistakes we see.

Your beard relies on the natural oils your skin produces. Wash it daily, especially with shampoo or shower gel, and you strip those oils faster than your skin can replace them. The result is the dry, brittle, itchy beard most men are trying to avoid.

Use a dedicated beard wash, which is balanced for skin and hair, rather than the products made for your scalp. On the days in between, a quick rinse with warm water and your daily oil is all you need. If you have had a genuinely dirty or sweaty day, by all means wash, just follow it with oil to put the moisture back.

Think of it like the hair on your head: clean, but not stripped. Less is usually more.
